Internet Explorer 6 has been a world standard for about 3 years now, however, times have changed, and Microsoft has released Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP.  Even if you’re not sure if your copy of windows is authentic, it doesn’t matter.  Validation is not required for download. 

This new version has a built-in search window, which means you don’t need to type in a particular webpage to search, the window is always there. 

It also supports tabbed browsing, which means that if you’re looking at several pages, you don’t have to clutter your taskbar, you can have just one window open with all those tabs.

It also has a more advanced web page zooming system.  Whether you want to examine an image closely, or find that larger text is easier to read, this certainly could come in handy.  It zooms everything on the page, or just the text.
